Texas Hill Country Spring-2024 March 19-June 20

Texas Hill Country Spring-2024 March 19-June 20

I have been in Texas since the late 90's, long enough to have seen a few Springs. Although I understand that everything plays a part in your awareness of your environment. Meaning that some years you are more distracted than others. I still believe that even subconciously you can notice what's happening around you.

What I noticed this Spring in Central Texas was nothing short of true magic, beginning with Texas Wildflowers.

The first of the Spring Show this year was in early March with the ever popular Bluebonnet laying blankets of Blue all over the Texas Hill Country. Meanwhile the beautiful Primrose and my personal favorite, Evening Primrose start to pop up as well.

The start of April was ripe with Thistle, Bee Balm, and Indian Paintbrush as well as an Eclipse with my hometown of Wimberley,Tx being in the path of complete totality.

On Eclipse day April 9th I decided to do a Bleueprint pop up at Fair Dinkum Coffee. I had water color paper treated and ready to be printed by tourists from all over. I met a woman from France, a few couples from Dallas, and a local musician from Austin. All of them chose some of the flowers I brought from Arnosky Farms and made a beautiful sunprint memory, just as we fell into to complete darkness. Truly a unique and exciting experience. Although it was a bit overcast that day it did not keep us from celebrating our heavenly bodies.

Spring continued to bloom with something new almost everyday. I drive from Wimberley to Dripping Springs to work and I have to say that I was late more times than ever this spring feeling the constant need to pull over and photograph the new flowers that just bloomed.

Mexican Hat, Winecup, Foxglove, and finishing off spring Firewheels and another favorite of mine Texas Prickly Poppy. What makes these flowers bloom? Rain and Sun both of which were perfectly balanced this season. As spring comes to a close we had a close brush with a small tornado, bringing the winds to clear dead trees, the rain to nourish, and hail to remind us how powerful mother nature can be.

Last week I spoke with an old timer when I was at a local thrift shop, she overheard me talking about what a beautiful spring we have had. She couldnt help but jump in the conversation to let me know that she had been in Wimberley her whole life and this was the most beautiful spring she could remember. She was 75years old. Cherish every moment folks you never know when you will witness something special.
